1.   What exactly do I receive when I order a song from Demo My Song?

A labeled CD of your song arranged and produced to your specifications.  The
CD will contain two tracks: one with vocals and one without, in case you want to
add your own later.  You will also receive a second CD of wav files as well as an mp3 sent to your email upon project completion.  Back to top.  



2.   Can Demo My Song make a demo of my song even if I don't play any instruments?

Yes.  We can derive a chord sheet from a simple vocal recording and build an arrangement from that.  Check out our before and after samples of this.  Back to top.  



3.   If I only have lyrics, will Demo My Song write brand new music for them?

Yes.  All the music written for lyrics is brand new - we never re-use old ideas or melodies.  You can be sure that when you receive your song demo, the music was written specifically for your lyrics.

4.   Who keeps the rights to the finished product?

You always keep the rights to the songs that you write.  If you wish to own 100% of the performance rights as well, just ask us and we will sign a Work For Hire agreement for no additional charge.  Back to top.

7.   Can I choose between a male or female vocalist for my recording?

8.   Can I put my own vocals on my song?

Yes.  This is easiest if you live in or near the Seattle area and can get yourself to our studio.  But even if you don't live nearby, this is still easy.  The most popular option is to have us produce the backing instruments (and backing vocals, if desired) and then take the song to a local studio in your town to layer the vocals on top.  Another option is to fly to Seattle to do the vocals at our studio (this is usually unnecessary, as most cities have studios that can produce a single vocal track for under $150).  Back to top.  



9.   How do I pay?

10.   Can I pay in installments?

Yes.  Because our products usually cost hundreds of dollars, we are flexible as to providing payment plans.  If you need to pay a little bit at a time, we will be happy to facilitate this.  Please note, however, that we will not begin working on a song until the song is paid for in full.  Back to top.

12.   How long does it take for Demo My Song to produce my song?

We have two options: regular and express.  A regular order takes about 4-6 weeks, and an express order takes about 14-16 days.  Both orders are fulfilled first with an emailed mp3 of the song, followed by a mailed CD.  Express orders include U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail; regular orders are sent regular mail.  (Regular orders contain a $10 CD production and shipping charge, while express order have a $210 express production and shipping charge.  You can choose to save $10 by asking not to receive a CD at all, but just an emailed mp3.)  Back to top.  



13. What kinds of instrumentation does Demo My Song offer?

We can provide pretty much any instrumentation you can think of.  Most clients ask for the standard players: guitar, keys, bass, drums.  But many of our clients order more specialized sounds, such as strings, woodwinds, steel guitars, mandolin, tambourine, harmonica...  ....you get the point.  For a complete list of our packages and extra instruments, check out our rates page.  Back to top.



14. What programs does Demo My Song use to produce music?

We use ProTools for most projects.  We are also proficient in and have access to most other major music production programs.  If you want us to produce your song in a particular program (say, for example, one that you own so that you can edit the tracks and levels later), we can certainly do that.  Back to top.



15. Does Demo My Song provide help with marketing my songs?

We recently partnered with another Seattle-based music company called Songslide.  Songslide is an online music store where independent artists can sell their songs.  We recommend that anyone who is interested in selling their music check out Songslide and then start spreading the word with friends, fans, and at gigs for people to go to that site to purchase your songs.  Back to top.
