Since joining the songwriting community here at Demo My Song in 2017, Kenneth Lindquist has been lending his pen to some of our most potent releases in Country and Folk. His most recent work is called “Tall Glass of You” and features Scott on lead vocals.

I think a reckoning is going to happen soon because there are still a lot of fans of the “outlaw” country, and smart producers and record label owners are going to capitalize on that eventually.

What are some of the Country/Folk artists that have influenced your songwriting?

The artists that have influenced me the most are the old “outlaws”. Willie, Waylon, Haggard, Cash, and Kristopherson. Bob Dylan is also a huge influence. Relatively newer artists that I really love are Sturgill Simpson and Cody Jinks.

Music is constantly evolving. Since you first started songwriting, what do you see as some of the the biggest changes in audience perception?

I think the road country music has gone down is quite terrible for everyone. Modern country music today sounds more like pop than country. I think a reckoning is going to happen soon because there are still a lot of fans of the “outlaw” country, and smart producers and record label owners are going to capitalize on that eventually. Just look at the huge success of Willie’s last album, Sturgill’s sales and awards, as well as Chris Stapletons recent success.

Would you like to share a tip about songwriting to new songwriters out there?

I’m fairly new at this, so maybe I can use some tips. All I can really offer, is to take the time to actually finish and record a song. If other songwriters are like me, they have tons of half finished songs floating around in their head. It’s important to focus on finishing those songs. Then on to the next one!

Are you working on any new music right now? What your next plan?

I’m always working on new music. Hopefully, I can collaborate with Demo My Song again and make another awesome track like “Tall Glass of You!”
