20 Feb Popular Songs | Oldies – Bron-Y-Aur Stomp – Led Zeppelin
“You can’t give up something you really believe in for financial reasons. If you die by the roadside – so be it. But at least you know you’ve tried. Ten minutes in the music scene was the equal of one hundred years outside of it.” – Robert Plant
The song “Bron-Y-Aur Stomp” was named after the house they stayed in in Whales while recording their album, Led Zeppelin III. The word bron-y-aur stomp actually means “hillside of gold” and the house they stayed in didn’t have any electric or running water. All they had was their instruments and creativity.
This song is by far my all time favorite from Led Zeppelin. I still have never heard anything like it. The acoustics are absolutely amazing with a beat that is consistent through out. It is truly amazing that a group can turn an acoustic song into a rock classic.
Stay tuned for an “Oldie” song of the week next Thursday!
